Dell fix on 7/26/03?

Because other threads on the future fix for WM2k3 are so long and contain so much outdated and off-topic information, I'd like to start a new thread discussing new 2k3 information and begin with this report claiming a Dell fix Tomorrow! :)

Anyone know firsthand what these reports are? From who, how reliable?

That would be great. I does say that it is unconfirmed info though... I hope dell has a fix and will send my upgrade to me soon.

so far it's just more rumours. Unless it is coming from I Dell rep/tech, I would not believe anything at this point about the release date of the fix.

Honestly niether do I. I have not got on answer from a Dell tech/rep that was consistant with what anyone else has told me.

You mean trust the people who for weeks insisted there was no problem? :p

I just received my Axim (After a month) and it came with PPC2002. I talked to my dell rep and he is sending me PPC2003 however the ship date is Sept 10. He said the delay was due to changes in the software. While he did not say it was a fix, Dell stated that it was their version of PPC2003 that had a problem. So it appears there was/is a fix.

Yeah Right, After speaking to a tech from Dell, was told "Tentatively in 30 days", for the software update to correct the problem with the X5 Advanced running Win2k3. Certianly doesn't look like 7/26/03 to be, as today being 7/25/03. Wonder where the individual got their information. OH well, will keep using this, and wait for the update to come out. Someone earlier did state, Wish Consumer Reports, would retest this unit with 2k3 on it. The reason I purchased it was due to their recommendation! I do like the unit but would like to see what it is capable of, versus, I think this is just fine.....:p

I just got an email from Dell today stating that my 2003 upgrade will be shipped on or before 8/22...At least they apoligized for the delay! I don't mind waiting as 2002 is working fine for me, but a company like Dell should not be throwing out so many dates...and if they have a "team" of software geeks working on this thing how can it take so long?

I talked to a Dell tech yesterday, and he told me that they were still working on the fix, but he hadn't heard anything about it's release date. I would assume that he would have heard about the Saturday release if in fact it were true... Though it is nice to dream... :)

I just checked the online status of my OS upgrade order and it is now showing a projected shipping date of September 10. What a bummer!

im not sure that the OS patch release date and the upgrade CD ship date are particularly related, given that the patch doesn't have to go through the manufacturing process.

but yeah somehow 7/26 sounds way too good to be true. both the patch and the revised OS will have to be tested and that will probably take a long axx time.
