appears to be a version with some features from ie5+ and sends back the following user agent string:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)]
check out this msdn article from the wm2003 sdk info

it supports the CSS2 mobile profile (handheld media type for instance) so it actually has features that ie5 doesn't.

I am interested in the security levels it has. With the IE in PPC 2002 I cannot access my banking information. If you get a chance, maybe you would try going to:
https://www4.usbank.com/internetBank...splayLoginPage
to see if the page can be accessed. I would be very appreciative!
Thanks,
Frank

I was able to access the login page (I have WM2003). It should be noted that the IE in WM2003 already has support for 128-bit encryption. I believe you would need to get the encryption update for PPC2002 and older. Check and see if your version of IE supports 128-bit encryption.

My version of PPC 2002 must not have 128-bit encryption, since I can't access that page. Where would I find an update to IE for PPC 2002 that adds 128-bit encryption?
Thanks,
Frank

Go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ncryption.mspx
Just try it and follow the instructions on the page. There are specific instructions for PPC2k2. Just see if it works. I'm still not completely sure about there being 128-bit encryption in PPC2k2 or not. I got my Axim at the beginning of July so all I know is WM2003.

Thanks! I'll give it a try tonight. I just got my Axim, but it is a refurb, and doesn't have WM2003. I would have thought the refurb process would have put it on. Oh, well...
I'll post back to say how this update goes.

Well, I tried the 128-bit encryption update but it made no difference. I guess I'll have to wait for the WM2003 update.;)
Do you of any way to see if IE is using 128-bit encryption?

I just tried and if you install RegKing and run their IE to IE5 hack you can access the login page for US Bank using PPC2002...
But it doesn't work for my bank ... Anyone get Wellsfargo to work with WM2003 ...

Thanks all for the help. I did just that - RegKing makes it work! So, I'm happy :D
Now if you can just get Wells Fargo to work...

I'm hoping WM2003 will allow me to access WellsFargo .. If not I guess I'll just have to live with it .. From a security standpoint WellsFargo is very strict on what can access their online banking site ... But I guess thats a good thing that they care about the security of their customers ;)

I can access the WellsFargo sign in page. Of course this is using WM2003. Planet-Ed, do you have the 128-bit encryption installed? When I check the properties of the page (View -> Properites), it lists encryption as High (128 bit) meaning that the page might require 128 bit encryption (which would be expected of a bank webpage). Some pages would check for browser version because of certain features and/or security certificate (the Bank of America page gave me a warning about updating the browser since it detected 4.01 and said the certificate will expire at the beginning of 2004 - the default settings that came in WM2003). It might be the 128 bit encryption, and older security certificate on PPC2k2 that would prevent access even with the tweak, or it might just be PPC2k2 all together. Hope this helps.
fclifton, sorry I didn't mention about the registry tweak. Since it wasn't necessary for me to do it in WM2003 (4.01 is the default as oppose to 3.02 in PPC2k2 and it allows me to access various bank sites), I forgot about that. It seems I might have to do it anyway once the 4.01 security certificate expires in January of 2004 since I use Bank of America.

No I had installed the High encryption pack already and that and the RegKing hack still doesn't allow you on WellsFargo ... I guess they are looking at more than just the regkey and encryption ...
But thats not a problem .. At least you shown me that it will work in WM2003 so I can wait ... Its no rush .. I don't plan on going on any trips to where I'd be away from my computer ...
