looking good, the patch definetly did it, remember the file system was the main issue in A04 everyone, the patch wasnt designed as far as I know to improve anything else so for those wanting a patch to make it seem their axim was running at a 1GHZ, you aint gettin it :P

11.8 fps in Demo1 on an X5 Basic! About 5 fps more than with X5 Advanced running PPC2002.

Pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Anyone know if doing a hard reset and doing a re-install of apps after the patch upgrade from A04 to A05 has any effect on performance? I just did the restore of the backup during the installation.

Someone mentioned that it may. I think I read a post in one of the "my audio is choppy" threads. I don't have a WM2003 Axim personally. So I can't help here.

All I can tell is the performance is noticeable from A03 to A05.

Oops! :crooked: I didn't know it couldn't be distributed freely. I thought they just pulled it from their site to fix it for those that were having troubles with it freezing up during the install.

By the way, I benchmarked my ppc 2003 with the bus at 99MHz and the CPU at 498MHZ and it was slower than when the bus is at 199MHz and the cpu at 398MHz. I'll try and update my chart.

Re: New Benchmarks Chart: old, new and patched

Zukakog, have you tried upgrading your old axim (PXA250) to A05? I'm very excited about the benchmark results, but I bought my device when they first came out, so I'm sadly stuck with the older CPU. I'm curious as to how much of a performance gain someone with the orginal PXA250's such as myself would get from WM2003.

I've made a benchmarks chart and added the new scores to it along with the iPaq 2215 for comparison. All in all, the upgrade almost doubled the score for the Axim running PPC 2003.

Here's the link. http://server3001.freeyellow.com/ltr...0Axim%20X5.htm

Anyone have the FPS numbers for popular games on the new Ax?

BTW, you know how there are games like UT2003, Jedi Knight are benchmark games for FPS for comps, what are the benchmark games (or game) for the PDA? (More specifically the Axim(

Sadly I haven't recieved my upgrade CD and haven't been able to do any such tests.

Looks like there's a fairly big difference between the PXA250 and PXA255. Some of us still have the old processor. I wonder if we'll notice much difference in everyday use?
