Dell's reaction time is funny

Just thought I'd point out what I'm sure a lot of people are thinking. It's quite hilarious that when people on this site found out how to install the PPC2003 rom on a PPC2002 Axim, Dell found out within only a couple of hours and removed the file from their FTP. Yet it took them several weeks to discover a problem with WM2003. Anybody see where their intentions are? Kind of sad really...

Excellent observation Mike... one that will be lost on many.

Or even more likely, they've been here all along. They could very well have known about the problem, and maybe they hoped a few dozen hard resets would make the problem just vanish.

The patch screwed up my Ax to the point of un-usability.
I'm restoring the A0-4 ROM now. Hope it works or this puppy's going back. BTW, there was no "cracking" involved. The patch for the A0-5 ROM was readily available on the Dell FTP server with no "issues" mentioned. I guess they rushed it a bit.

So far-so good on the restore. 10/13, 11/13, 12/13.......Yeaa 13/13. Restoring my back-up.........Back-up done, resetting.
RE-syncing 1300 items! OKAY! Looks like it worked. don't have the "can't turn it off and on" problem. Kept loosing everything because I had to soft reset to get it come back on.

@mikeo007: you make a good point here... it takes them several weeks to unofficiallly acknowledge a problem, but only a few hours to ack piracy? I wished they'd shown such decisive action when it comes to using WM2k3 in the first place.

@nemattoad: have I missed any of the servers while going through the list? I guess we have to resort to PMs for the details..
