Yeah, downloaded it a couple days ago and it works great! It even comes with the best skin for PocketMVP already installed.

There are two files there, one is a cab file and one is an exe. So how did you install it? Did you run the exe from your pc or did you copy and execute the cab file on your ax? or did you do both

The exe is for installation from your desktop, using activesync, the CAB file is for direct installation on your ppc.

This is good news. I no longer have to faff about with Windows Movie Maker or Media Encoder to watch videos on my Ax. Admittedly though, for the same bitrate, Media Encoder/Movie Maker does a slightly better job but it's not really noticeable.

Which method is a better way to install, directly on the ax or via activesync? Why would a person choose one way over the other?

Well, both methods actually install the very same app.
The easiest way is through activesync. Just click the exe, and it will install. It may take a while for the " install/remove programs' applet to come up, especially if you have a lot of programs installed. This method also has the advantage of being able to remove/re-install from this activesync applet. Lastly, this method lets you choose where to install it
On the other hand, if you copy the CAB file to your Ax (you can to this easy if you right-click the file and use the send to context menu to put it in your ppc my doc folder), you can install it by tapping this file on your axim. This will be a faster process. Also, if you connect directly to the Internet with your ppc, you will want to use this method (no need for a desktop). Furthermore, you can store a copy of this file on your storage card, to re-install if neccesary, on the road. Out-of the box, this method won't allow you to choose the place to install it to, but will install to the default directory (always in main memory). A utility that allows you to choose a directory and prevent the file from being deleted automatically is called Cabinst. I hink there's a link to this util in the dowload page on this site. Actually you can find these CAB files in subdirectories of AS for all apps you have installed.
Hope this helps you to decide which method to use :)

It's just a matter of preference, as far as I know. Would you rather have a Windows installer or drag and drop the cab file into your Active Sync Explorer?

One useful thing about using the windows installer method, if you hard reset your Axim and want to install software again, all you need to do is put a tick in the box beside the programs you want in Add/Remove programs then press OK. Hey Presto, all your applications reinstalled in one easy operation, much better than manually copying all the cab files over and running them individually.

Forgot to say that you also get the option of specifying where the program gets installed to when you go through active sync, can't remember if you get a choice when you run a cab file.
