Exclamation Defying a performance problem?

Hi Everyone!
I just got my Axim X5 - 400/64 - and haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet.
But I'm getting worried as I've been reading the posts for the last couple of hours!
Could anyone tell me what are the "symptoms" of this (those) famous performance problem(s)?
Your help is highly appreciated, as I'm new to Dell and their products.
A was and still am a happy owner of Compaq Aero 2150, which is about 4 years old
and still going strong! I needed an upgrade and for some reason (price, of coarse!), I ended up buying Dell instead of
Compaq! It looks like Axim X5's got lot problems (just reading the board)! Are those problems fixable?
Or should I simply return it end put my money to Compaq again (although more expensive)!?
Hope not hurting' anyone's feelings!

The first thing I would do is check your ROM Version
Start->Settings->System->System Information. The latest right now is A05. This seems to have gotten rid of the speed problems that most of the complaints are about. There are a couple other issues people are commenting on, but we're not sure if it's a WM2003 issue, Axim specific issue, or if the program wasn't made for WM2003.

HTH,

Nick

Thanx for the answer!
It looks like mine is A05...and hopefully Dell has solved the major problems. One thing I found though, the preinstalled active sync(3.7) hangs when I try to "close all" while connected w/ my PC

if you have A05, you have a good axim and none of the slowdown issues affect you. the only issues you will run into are whatever bugs turn up in WM2003 because it's a new OS. that, and the fact that a lot of third-party programs and drivers will have to be modified to work properly with WM2003.

activesync won't close until you disconnect the axim from your PC.

my Sync has the same issue, i just kill it off. doesnt seem to affect stability,

stays open even after youve disconnected.

i dont think this is a major issue or problem though, I usually leave it running or like i said, give it a kill! the O/S seems to be really stable.

like he said though, if you have the one u do have, (lol.. sorry, my bad sentance there!) you wont have any problems, unless its M$s fault, but hey....they'll release SPs and fixes, which we'll get for free via Dell.

you wont be sorry you went for Dell. :) -they've got great aftersales as well.. although I hear they wont give free repairs if u crack ur screen!

hmm what Os are you using? the A03 patch solved the activesync not closing problem on my PPC2002 axim, and i plain don't have the problem on my WM2003 axim. but I use MagicButton to close programs.
