A05 still has sound problems!

I have noticed a few other posts concerning the poor audio performance in some games under 2003.

Rocket Elite Gold - Stuttering - Claims 2003 compatibility
Bust'em - Stuttering - Claims 2003 compatibility
Motocross Stunt Racer - Very bad Stuttering - Claims 2003 compatibility
Simcity 2000 - Slight Stuttering
Morphgear 2.0.0.4 - Skipping notes - Claims 2003 compatibility
Gnuboy - Stuttering
NFS Beta - Stuttering
Rayman Ultimate - Slight Stuttering

On the plus side wifi browsing with IE is greatly improved.
I would like to hear if others are having similar problems.

I still have game sound problems with A05, too. There is a lot of stuttering in gangsta race & blackjack pro, too. Funny thing, though, everything else works pretty well now - especially with the overall speed.

The update went without a hitch for me, but I do have an axim basic 300, and I heard it has far fewer problems. Good thing I grabbed it off the ftp before it was pulled! What an improvement over what it was like before!

I wonder if the game sound problems have something to do with the fact that (from what I understand) the basic 300 models don't have a maximum performance setting for the processor, and there isn't an easy way to bump the bus speed to 200. Does anyone know if the basic (255 proc) even has the capacity to use the 200mhz bus? And if so, what kind of overclocking hacks can you use to simply speed up the bus?

i had alot of probs with sound in mp3 players....Withmp3 dident even work (not updated yet) and pocketmusic and pocketplayer had problems with cracking/poping, terrible probs with adjusting the volume, and the volume kept going to max everytime you skiped a song etc.....media player however worked flawlessly, but not having any eq to tweak or what not, its not half as good as the other players as they worked in 2002.

Now that you mention it, sound does seem to be a little poor in morphgear and pocket snes. Haven't noticed any other problems. I'm listening to an MP3 right now and it sounds great.

What does NFS Beta stand for? That's not Need For Speed is it? If it is...WHERE can I get this baby?! I loved that game back like 7 years ago!

yes, but what prog are you using to listen to it with....the 2003 media player worked great for me, but every other audio prog i tried dident....but on the flip side, some people are posting in other forums that the built in media player has the problems, and that pocket music etc work great in 2003.....wondering if the audio is an axe prob or an 2003 prob....

Sounds to me like a driver prob, though I don't have my WM2003 upgrade yet, so I couldn't tell you for sure. I'm sure that if there is a problem it can be fixed in a future update with newer drivers.

I'm sure it's not the hardware because...

a) The sound worked fine in 2002

b) The Axim uses a fairly common and good sound processor (don't remeber exactly what it is, except for the fact that it is used by some other PDAs as well).

Does anyone else get a small "pop" sound when turning on the Axim or unmuting the volume control using Icbar? It's not too loud on mine and the "pop" sound when turning on the Ax just seemed to start within the last day (after I installed the majority of my apps). I turn off the Axim using Icbar's "power off" function so maybe it's all a result of using Icbar?

Yes, it does; I have a beta of it lying around here somewhere, although I think the game was scrapped, at least I've haven't heard anything about it for several months. It was really bad, IMO, the in-game graphics weren't very good, but the gameplay was ok.
