1. Install worked but......significant problems.
Ax did ot respond to button pust to turn it off until several attempts. Once off, would not respond to off/on buton at all and I had to soft reset to start it each time.
Went back to the A0-4 ROM and now working fine.
2.
3.
4. Ax advanced 400
5. Compaq 2800 laptop running XP home.

Success or Failure?
Success
If Failure, at what point did the update fail?
-
If it failed at 1/13, how many dots (next to the indicator) are displayed?
-
Were you updating an Axim Basic (300 MHz) or Axim Advanced (400 MHz)?
Advanced
What type of PC were you using to update the Axim?....and what OS is it running?
Sony Vaio FX105K, MS Win 2000
Were you using a USB or a Serial connection?
USB

2. Failed at ...1/13...
3. Three (3) dots on each side...
4. Updating an Axim Advanced with PPC2003 as factory default...

Failure
Got right through to the end of ROM update, and it hung.
Axim Advanced (ver. 04 of ROM)
Homebrew - P4 3Ghz, 512Mb ram, Win XP Pro, USB 1.1
Via USB Cradle
Notes:
Looked like it was going to work first time, but just hung after it got to 100% of update process. Did both soft/hard reset . Problem now is, everytime my device gets to the 'screen setup' option, it immediately reboots, straight back to the setup screen, only to get rebooted again. It now won't stop this endless cycle... HELP!

the first time it failed and wore out the back-up battery. Fortunately, I have had my Axim for only a few weeks. So, I did a hard reset (after backing-up my stuff in a different folder). Then, I installed the new ROM. Did another hard reset. Instead of using the Back-up procedure, I reinstalled everything myself. Huge difference in speed. I had a Sony Clie with a 33Mhz processor before I purchased my Axim and it was MUCH faster. Now with the updated ROM, the Axim 's speed is much improved - although not much different than a Clie with a 33MHz processor. -
