Call Dell support and a replacement unit received the next day.
But unit still the same with the original PPC2003 A04.

Further to the above, the installer hunge up on me 3/4 times then would not recognise the language so aborted two times.
All problems for me were cured by uninstalling everything from the Axim, then a hard re-set. Update went straite on after this. In about 10 mins.

What type of PC were you using to update the Axim?....and what OS is it running? Dell PC windows XP

Manually backed up Rom before upgrade / Hard reset immediately prior to upgrade / never touched Axim during upgrade

Backed up ROM in seperate operation.

Never touched it during upgrade.

Had to change language settings to US english to update and then change language settings back to Norwegian to restore data from ActiveSync.

Even tried the "battery removal" tip found in these forums without success...
