2003 Desktop

When I installed Tomtom Navigator onto my iPaq it installed a shortcut right on the iPaq's desktop.

How can I create shortcuts such as this without any third party sorftware?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but I use cLaunch which allows you to organize today screen shortcuts to your programs. I've attached a partial screen shot showing how I have mine set up.

P.S. This isn't 'without third party software,' but it is freeware.

Well you can also use these two neat shortcut appz that I used: Launcher and PHM Tray Launch

I attached a screenshot so you can see what it looks like... hope this helps.

I've never seen Tray Launcher before. Does it work fine with IcBar/WisBar?
It's that time of year again. I need a new holiday avatar... Is there anyone up to the challenge?

Well I think both app should work fine with IcBar and definitely with Wisbar. I am using WisBar Advance tho'. Launcher is a today plugin so it should work no matter what. And PHM Tray Launcher I think is just a small program that allows you to create a shortcut in the notification area which is very neat...

Well you can install them anywhere but preferable in main memory. I installed mine in iPaq File Store. They don't allocate much I think less than 50k for both appz.

When I installed tray launcher i noticed that each time I do a soft reset I have to re-enable it (it comes up with a dialog). Is this normal? I thought it should automatically re-enable itself without the dialog popping up everytime.

TrayLaunch automatically re-enables on my 2215 when I soft-reset. I don't have to do anything special.

sofene,

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm running TrayLaunch in RAM, not from the card. Maybe that's why it re-enables for me. Are you running it from the card?

Also make sure it's in the Windows/Startup folder.

I agree with sebring. You do not need to do anything special to enable/re-enable it. It is a very small program so putting it in main memory will not do you any harm. Also make sure that there is a shortcut for Tray Launch in your startup folder inside windows. That will do the trick to automatically start after a soft reset...

One more thing. Is there a way to have the ipaq display different desktop screens for different days of the week?
