Calculator

Why is the MS calculator program back to the old 2D black and white calculator without the currency converter that shipped in the older PPC 2002s?

I havent seen the PPC2K2 Calculator.

does yours look exactly like this?

Does look a tad on the ugly side.. I doubt i'll be using it that much, and will do most of the things I'll need it to.

maybe theres an advanced caluclator you can get, from the MS site?

they did a nice advanced one for XP which I downloaded... lol, never used it though

Best calaulator I've seen is Napier from NCA. Unfortunately its not compatible with WM2003 yet according to the authors.

the currency converter didn't even have dollars! and how were you supposed to update the exchange rates? I don't have any complaints about the new calculator, it still has all the buttons i used before.

All the other PPC 2003s still have the good PPC 2002 calculator... not a big drawback or anything, its just kinda embarrasing to use that ugly program in front of all your friends who have PALMS with nicer looking calculators

This calculator was the one that shipped with the older PPC 2002s, before EUU3 came out.

NCA Napier

I love NCA Napier. It works really well, and despite what they say....it does work on WM 2003. Good stuff.

Yep, the calculator was like that for me too when i upgraded. An easy solution is to copy the stuff from PPC2002 to WM2003 and the "old" calculator is back.

This is the files I copied:
\Windows\123def.gif
\Windows\123down.gif
\Windows\calccomma.gif
\Windows\eurodef.gif
\Windows\eurodown.gif
\Windows\calc.exe
\Windows\calc.htm
\Windows\calc
\Windows\Help\Calculator

Works like a charm.

Enter currency convert and tap "Edit -> Rates" and then select which one you would like to see. You can also edit the rates there.

Yeah, I second that. I don't use the built-in calc that much, but this version just looks fugly. It looks as bad as the Win 1.0 calc

ugg... well I used to use the old PPC 2002 calculator quite a lot, and the currency converter was simple but helpful. The theme looked very slick, and it was a nice calculator to use. When I follow the instructions ix_ posted I'll post a pic of the "old" calculator.

This is what the calculator looks like in WM2003 after copying the files. Much nicer than the one shipped with A05.

I actually like it more. I used to complain that it was too hard to read the blue calc without the backlight or in the sun. The new one is much easier to read.
