Question Any more ROM upgrades for PPC2002?

I've noticed that the two MM2003 ROMs were number sequencially after the last PPC2002 upgrades, ie A04 and A05.
I wonder why they didn't implement a separate numbering sequence for MM2003 ROMS.

It leads me to wonder of all future enhancements and bug fixes will be increment upgrades to the A05 ROM, leaving 2002 users high and dry.

WM2003 *is* the latest round of bugfixes for PPC2002. It just costs $30 now.

ROM vs MM2003

I apologize for my ignorance...is there a difference between a ROM update and upgrade to MM2003? I currently have AO2 and PPC 2002.

Yes and no... with the rollout of WM2003 there will, in all likelyhood, be no more updates to PPC2002.

The latest PPC ROM from Dell is A03. The version on the shipped Axims with WM2003 is A04. The fixed ROM is A05.

I'd agree, I think that based on the ROM version number and the nature of the PPC OS Dell will probably only work on WM2003 updates from now on. The reasons being:

a) PPC 2002 is pretty much, as far as I know, nearly bug free (or at least as bug free as Dell would be likely to make it).

b) PPC 2003 has some performance characteristics, and benefits that will make 2002 completely obsolete once they mature a bit.

Add to this that from now on all new Axim owners will be getting WM 2003 and that in a few months they will surpass the number of PPC 2002 owners, and that leaves Dell with little incentive to upgrade 2002 (unless a really big flaw was to be found in 2002 that would be completely Dell's fault).

No, as far as I am aware the only Desktop OS's that are getting updates are XP Pro/Home, .Net Server/Server 2003, Windows 2000 Pro/Server and Windows ME.

Windows NT 4 was dropped from the update cycle last year and Windows 2K will be dropped shortly.
