Not trying to make it "any less official"? Not what his words say.

All I can tell you is what my contact at Dell says. If you don't like the answer then that is your choice. :crooked:

It is not a requirement of all Axim users to read and follow all of one of this site's moderator's opinions on morality, legality, etc. Barring any other official direct communication from Dell to its registered owners (I have got nothing), the upgrade is still available and official. Cageyjames doesn't have authority to change that, nor should he be so arrogant to think that he does.

Uh OK.. I'll stop passing along information from Dell. Actually better yet, why don't you add me to your ignore list and then you might sleep better at night.

Unless there was additional bug fixes that they would want to take part in. But as with A02 and A03, I don't think you'd have to unless you are having trouble.

Look, all I was doing was passing along what I was told. He/she told me that they wouldn't install it so I thought other users might want to know that.

"sigh"

Sticky thread in Dell's tech support forums. Seems to be an official patch.

So install it. I'm not stopping you. That is the offical line as was reported on Aximsite's front page. What I'm telling you is that as reports have come back with people having trouble going from A04 to A05, my contact has told me that they are considering changing the patch. Do what you want, I really don't care. I'm just trying to pass on what he/she told me.

Look, if you read back in some of the threads you'll read me supporting Dell saying that the only thing wrong with the patch was that it was being hacked. I was saying this WAY before this thread was started. Since then I have learned some things that lead me to believe you don't want to bother with the patch that was on the FTP site.

sorry cageyjames, I didn't mean to sound rude. Not my intention at all. I was just posting that for anyone who hadn't already read it. I installed the patch and was one of the lucky ones to get it working, so hopefully they can iron out their bugs. And just to ease everyone's minds, if Dell does release another patch with more fixes than the previous A05 rom, it WILL be called A06.

Since their own staff have suggested people install the rom update, Dell has to service any units that might be dammaged by the previous update, and also, if they refuse to service it, it's very easy for Axim users to "fry" their internal Rom and force Dell to service it anyway :)

So happy days all around, and sorry again james.

Don't be sorry. You are correct. If something happens to your unit dell will replace it. I personally couldn't go 10 minutes without mine...
