2003/pocketquake benchmarks - Updated with 2002 results also
here are some real world benchmarks for wm2003 -vs- ppc2002 i just did using pocket quake .062 and timedemo demo1.
device specs - X5 advanced (255), latest WM2003 patch.
other apps installed - batterypack, resco file and picture apps.
each speed setting was tested after a soft reset and the dbase patch run.
2003/2002
powersave mode.............8.1 fps / 5.7 fps
auto mode.......................13.6 fps / 9.3 fps
normal mode...................13.7 fps / 9.1 fps
max mode.......................14.6 fps
xcpuscalar @ 472 mhz....17.2 fps / 12.3 fps

i just installed it--damn it is FAST. tiny as hell, but fast. .6 wont make any difference anyway.

My Axim basic running at 300MHZ runs pocket quake at almost 20 fps, using a few optimizations of course :)

whoa the asus is a fast little thing, too bad it looks like crap though. not much of a diff vs paq/ax

Hey those are my results , I posted them but didn't know that they were included in the archive.
14.1 = WM 2003 A05 400 Mhz Pxbus 200
17.6 = WM 2003 A05 600 Mhz Pxbus 200
Ok , this is wierd , Today i got my new update. I did the benchmark again and have now 15.6 Fps instead of the 14.1. This is strange, both use the same settings.

Hm, did you re-install the upgrade? My file comparison says the rom are identical.

That's the strange part . I did the "free" 2002=>2003 with that patch from dell , went back to 2002 because i thought it was not fair . Today I got my upgrade , upgrade and repeated the test .
Same rom , same settings , different results ...

Go over to pocketmatrix (link above) and check out their forums for .cfg files to cut down graphics and speeding up gameplay. Some graphics options that are enabled are quite useless on a Pocket PC anyway, so there's no point in having them hog precious resources.
