I removed a program from the Ax, but it left an icon in Program Files. How do i get rid of it.

Using the FileExplorer go to
/Windows/StartMenu/ (this is for your main menu)
or go to
/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/ (This is for programs folder)
or go to
/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/Games (This is for the games folder)

remove the unwanted links from these directory

The icon that I want to remove does not show up navigating the way you tell me to go. It only shows up when I select Start- Program files.

If it shows in the StartMenu->Programs
you should have a *.lnk file for it in /Windows/StartMenu/Programs/
