Windows Media Player - Pocket PC 2002 - Will not load

Hi folks.

I've got an iPAQ 3955 and 3850 sitting here.

On request from a friend, I'vehad the following games recently installed on their iPAQ and mine:

Doom4CE
Kevtris
Chess
Pocket Poker
BlackJack

in addition to the GAPI in order to run Doom4CE, and the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP2 (needed for the particular Chess app).

Prior to install, Windows Media Player loaded just fine. Now, when selecting the menu shortcut, the title bar changes to Windows Media like it's going to successfully load, and then it dies, and goes back to the Welcome/Tasks screen.

Obviously something I just installed broke WMP, but I'd like some input before I uninstall everything.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've tried running the WMP 8.0 for Pocket PC 3.0 upgrade from Microsoft, but that didn't fix anything.

Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the site.

Pocket PC 2002 devices come with WMP 8.0 loaded in the ROM. Attempting to load the WMP 8.0 upgrade from Microsoft has caused problems. My best advise would be to do a hard reset. This will restore things back to the way they were. WMP should work OK.

Thanks for the welcome!

I just did a hard reset on the 3850, and that worked...

Guess I'll go through and install each thing seperately so I can see which one breaks it...

Thanks again!

No sweat. This is a great community and you will learn alot here.

Since you are already running PPC2002 I would not touch the WMP 8.0 download upgrade on the Microsoft site since PPC2002 already has WMP 8.0. I would also suggest to install each app one at a time and during each install make sure the WMP works. This is a good way of making sure that it was not an app that you was using that broke WMP.
