Downgrade 2003 -> 2002 possible

Did anyone notice the save/restore rom option on the WM2003 Upgrade CD? With this option it's possible to restore from a rom image you made earlier, e.a. from PPC 2002 before upgrading to 2003. It may also be possible to restore directly, to A03 or A02, haven't tried this thought yet. BTW my CD arrived 2 days ago (The Netherlands)

I backup mine up before I ran the upgrade. I then restored it when I was having some issues with 2003. It was nice and easy.

Sandert, I think it will depend on your country.

A problem reported during the upgrade (in the UK anyway) is that you have to set your Axim to US otherwise the install doesn't recognise the language.

I did the backup when my Axim was set to UK, which was allowed. However, when I tried to restore it the restore program couldn't recognise the language so wouldn't perform the restore.

If you set your Axim to US before performing the backup then it should work.

And what if you did not change your language, like I did...., and I would like to go back to PPC2002. I'm trying to download now a rom a02 file to see if I can go back to that STABLE version because the PPC2003 (A05) is much slower than the older PPC2002 version and much more UNSTABLE, lots of system frozen need to soft reset. A disappointed user....

I received my upgrade CD last Thursday, did a backup and the upgrade... smooth. BUT my belkin bluetooth and wireless network PDA cards did't work (they did on ppc2002). Belkin hasn't started on new drivers, so I tried to restore the pocketPC 2002, but it gave Language-error... I'm stuck :-( Somebody help me?

I have exactly the same problem, language problem. Before I made the backup I did not change to English (US) at the regional settings in the Axim. So now when I want to restore I also get a language error. Even when I change to English (US) before I try to restore the same problem shows up. I have not read that you have to change these regional settings BEFORE the rom backup. I just found it out when browsing this forum.....

I tried to copy a ROM from a Dell Basic model (I have the Advanced version). First changed the language to English (US) and made the backup from the Basic model. Then I tried to restore that version to the Advanced model. I got some error that the verify-action on the image file gave me a message that the image file could be damaged so I could not restore. Somebody any idea if is possible to restore a rom from a basic to an advanced model?

I tried to follow the steps from this spanish guy Ajelandro to manual restore a A03 rom, but i get some error about a wrong info file.
