Can a PPC2k2 backup be restored to a WM2k3 device?

If I image my device to a SD card for back up (saw with pocket backup plus) and hard reset, install the CD for WM2k3, and then attempt to restore my data, will this process work?

If no, then goto ------> how in the heck am I going to recover from an update? Just ActiveSync the heck out of the device when WM2k3 finishes installing? And then reinstall all my freeware/puchased software?

Can anyone confirm/deny?

No, I don't think you can restore a PPC 2002 backup to a device upgraded to WM 2003, you'll have to reinstall all your apps.

There are probably too many changes under the hood for it work right, not mention that if it did work, it may make the system unreliable.

what if i have all my programs on sd and cf cards. will those cards still run right? Or will i have to delete all the programs off of them and reinstall.

The only thing i have on the main memory is a few simple progs and AoE, since i had to install it there. And journal.

Some programs will still work, depends if the installer placed any files in the main system ram. There are 2 games that I have ny SD card that I didn't have to reinstall (Links and Baseball Addict), but a Freecell game and Pocket Streets I did have to reinstall because they placed files into system memory.
