Upgrading to Mobile 2003 from A00?

Hello,

My apologies if this has been covered - I didn't see it if it was.

My ROM version is A00. I ordered the Axim when it first came out and havne't done any ROM updates. Will I be able to upgrade to Mobile 2003 without having to do the A02 or A03 updates first?

Am I correct understanding that the Mobile 2003 upgrade is the same as the A05 update?

Also, when will the CD upgrade be available to me (or anyone else whose unit didn't ship with Mobile 2003 installed)?

Thanks!

Yes you can just upgrade from A00 to A05 and yes the wm2003 upgrade = A05

I have my upgrade - it's being delivered around europe currently - other parts of the world - well I don't know - I guess the US should be getting it soon

And for the rest of the universe......captain....?

I'm wanting to do the same thing. I have A00 and I have the A05 update downloaded. Here is my question: if I have to do a hard reset, will it revert back to A00?

No. The upgrade flashes the ROM, completely overwriting the old operating system. After the upgrade, a hard reset will return your Ax to A05.

BTW, A04 is also WinMobile03 - it just doesn't work well with the Axim.

edit: Yes, as posted by Oblox in the next post - the upgrade from A00 to A05 requires purchasing the CD from Dell, not using the download.

Dude man you cant upgrade to A05 from A00 unless you have the upgrade CD. Doing so from the downloaded version will either not work or will mean you have modified it and are illegally using the WM 2003 OS.

Oblox,

I didn't even notice dudeman's mention of the download. Thanks for straightening this out. I'll edit my post to clarify this above, too.
