Prev. Post On Telling 2003 2nd Ed. From 1st. Ed.
Previously I saw a thread here somewhere on the forum about how to
tell 2003 2nd edition from the 1st ed. the response was to take some file that that thread author had made and run it on your 4700 and get some picture or something... MY QUESTION IS.... WHY ? Why is this so complicated for this individual to do ? ALL ANYONE HAS TO DO IS EXACTLY AS IN THEIR PC O/S TO VIEW THE VERSION, START > SETTINGS > ABOUT > READ THE VERSION.... IT WORKS PERFECTLY ON THE 4700.... MINE SAYS WINDOWS 2003 MOBILE SECOND EDITION... THERE YOU GO... AND YOU DIDNT HAVE TO PUT SOME TROJAN ON YOUR IPAQ TO FIGURE IT OUT...

You have taken it out of context quite a bit - the reason for running the programme was to see if .Net was correctly configured on a users 4700. Whether it states WM2003 Second edition or not is irrelevant - there has been (at least) two builds of WM2003SE on the 4700. When the piece of software (which is NOT a trojan) was introduced no one was aware that there were more than one build of SE available on the 4700 and that the problem was due to the fact that Version1 didn't implement .NET correctly. In fact the first thought was that there was a bad manufacturing batch - and so the programme was to be run to see if .NET worked correctly or not on your system and then the manufacture number was to be sent if it did/ didn't. Now it is a few months later (much better to judge with hindsight isn't it) and we know that the issue is caused by the SE implementation and so you do longer need to run the programme, but just install either ctitanics fix or install betaplayer - both of which fix the .Net implementation problem. I am sure if you had read the whole thread then you would have seen this. BTW - welcome to the site
