VNC Problems

OK, I need some help here...

I have an Ipaq 1945 and use full internet via BT to my Ericsson T610 mobile phone (Fido).

I have been trying to get VNC to work so that I can remotely control my home PC over the internet from my PPC and transfer files back and forth.

I use Win98 so terminal services is not an option.

I installed VNC Server on my PC and VNC viewer on my PPC. When I activate VNCviewer on my PPC it gives me 3 fields to choose from. I choose the internet box of course, but I'm not sure what to type in that field... is it myIP:0?

Also, after installing VNC on my PC is it ready to go? Or do I need to mess with the settings? It sits on my toolbar like it's ready to go.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Happy holidays!

Not sure what VNCviewer you are using but you should be supplying the IP and the port number. It is in the form of myIP:0 as you mentioned. The 0 represents using the default port number. You can decide to use a different port number if you wish. You would configure it on the VNC server installed on the desktop.

Make sure that if you are running a firewall that you open the VNC port you are using.
