sorry about my poor english !

i have a damaged bootloader ! how can i flash the IPAQ Firmware / Windows CE
to Ipaq without running Windows CE or Linux on the IPAQ ?

The Firmware 2.10 for the IPAQ has incl. Windows Pocket PC 2002
but i cant flash it ! Because the Windows CE is not booting !

is there a tool to flash IPAQ 3970 via USB / Serial Port Docing Station ?
Where can i download it ?

Welcome to this superb website and forum.

I'm sure you will find a lot of friendly and professional help here.

Although your 3970 is currently not bootable, you might be able to put it into engineering mode by pressing contact + itask + power + soft reset.

It will show a red background screen with "Serial" on the top and "0.48" on the bottom.

Then you should try to end the process "wcecomm.exe" file (which is actually activesync).

Then you can try to connect the PPC via the USB cable to the laptop, this will see the 3970 displaying "USB" on the top of the screen, instead of "Serial".

Then you can try to run the RUU.exe for the 3970 2.10 ROM update.

This should ignore the current image version and install the correct and workable ROM on your 3970.

Button: "left side down" & "right side up" & power & soft reset ?
or have you a link so i can see the buttons with english names ?

my problem is, the batterie is down, ipaq only work with
power supply !
how can i load the batterie ??? witohout running os on the IPAQ ?

i made it !


i found a info, press the softreset more times !

i dit it, and i become the "boot>" promt

now i can flash the opie or something to the ipaq !

Sorry I was not accessing the internet for about 3 days.

Glad to see that you finally got this sorted out.
