WM 2003 german A01,..

hi!

i updated my axim to wm 2003 yesterday!

my old rom was A03 with ppc 2002
my new rom is A01 with wm 2003

strange feeling - updating from A03 to A01. is A01 the fixed version? - i think so. everything works fine and fast.

and:

Where is the battery symbol?? ( which was a feature ot the dell switchbar )
- is it gone?

thanks

A01 is the fixed version. Why they decided to go back to A00 and A01 - who knows?!?

Obviously nobody knows so far. By the way, did you update from an English version or from a German one?

Well, just a guess...

Since the updater for the patch (that was used to upgrade from PPC2002 to WM2003 without an upgrade CD) was A02 and the updater for the "fixed" upgrade is A01, then it looks to me like Dell did not really try to "fix" the updater, they may have only went back to the earlier one. The earlier updater did not have the Backup and Restore ROM functions...

Which would mean that they did not really "solve" the problem they claimed they were going to with the patch's updater. LOL

Really? That IS interesting... As I wrote, I am only guessing as I have not seen it myself.

Thanks for the correction. :)

i know it exactly - because i made two backups:

1) i made a backup of the rom with ppc 2002 (before i started the update)

2) i started the update to wm 2003
the update tool "forced" me to backup - before it started to update my axim. so i had to make a second backup. another 15 minutes gone. but nevermind - it works perfect.

By the way, where did you get your update from? I haven't seen it so far on the Dell's update side.

I was refering to the Backup and Restore functions tab. (Specifically Restore). Not the option to backup the ROM before proceeding with the update.

Does the installer have a seperate Backup and Restore tab at the bottom of the beginning screen?

I see, there was a seperate option independant of the upgrade process.

Did the tab has Restore also? I am assuming it did...
