Question WM 2003...What should I do?

I have an Axim Advanced running on PPC 2002. Should I upgrade to Mobile 2003 since all of the fixes are now out? What do you folks think? What are still the pros and cons?

If I did decide to upgrade, how do I order it from Dell?

Thanks in Advance!

Well, those of us that ordered from Dell in June are still waiting on our copies...

The disadvantages of using it are that a few programs still don't work with it. This shouldn't be a problem for long, as Microsoft has released information on how to update the programs. Any reputable company should be coming out with patches shortly.

Visual Basic programs also don't work on PPC 2003 straight out of the box. You need to download the runtimes from Microsoft to enable legacy Visual Basic support. Microsoft is pushing .NET instead of VB on the Pocket PC 2003 OS.

If it still isn't available from the website, just call Dell's 800 number to order it. I ordered mine in June, and the expected ship date is August 22nd. You won't have to wait as long, but expect it sometime after the 22nd.

I ordered mine the other day and today I saw this on the order status page:

Currently one or more items are not available. Every effort is being made to complete your order.
Delayed 9/19/2003

SKU: 310-4214 Quantity: 1
Description: Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 Upgrade for Del

Dunno what to make of that to be honest.

I think that's because it takes too long to be carried out.

At the end of June/beginning of July, I had placed an order for an SD card from Dell. I got an email stating the order would be delayed til the end of August. I received the card at the end of July.

I wouldn't make too much of the email.

I have the same question. Ordering it is not a problem.

I want to know if the upgrade is worth it. Are the speed issues fixed? Will I see better performance. Are there enough improvements to make it worth it?
