rz 1710 converting file errors
so far, i can sync ok, but when i go to copy n' paste files over to my pda (ie. pics, mp3's, etc) i keep getting this "error converting file" message, i've tried uninstalling active sync and reinstalling it, and also doing a hard reset on the pda. This error was popping up with both active sync 3.7.1 and 3.8
any help would be awesome thanks

There is a couple of ways to get around this. For pics and MP3s I don't not transfer using AS. It is way too slow. I use a cheap USB card reader. It saves alot of time and hassle and it is very fast, especially when transferring large video files to the PPC.
Or you can disable the file conversion feature of AS. Open AS on the desktop and click on the options button. Goto the Rules tab. Click on the Conversion Settings button. Uncheck the feature.

the disabling file conversion doesn't seem to have helped anything, i also tried setting up a sync files directory and trying to go thru that route, but it just gave me the same cannot convert file error. then it told me the file was read-only, there wasn't enough memory, or i didn't have permission to copy this file type ??
i think the whole thing boils down to a corrupt windows XP installation
