WM2k3 upgrade cd delay?

called dell today to understand why my upgrade cd kit with a ship date of 7/28 still hasn't arrived.

the answer i received after waiting for ~20 min was that wm2k3 doesn't work due to msft problems and (a) dell wasn't shipping out the kit until msft fixed the problem, and (b) no, they couldn't give me a swag on when i should expect the kit.

besides a big WTF :crooked:, this doesn't jive with the rest of the posts here...anyone getting delays and the same spin?

In a nutshell...

Dell posted the upgrade fix on a foreign site for those who already had 2003 and several did download it, but the installer was corrupt and only about 65% of those were sucessful.

Also, some wm 2002 owners were able to hack the upgrade and install 2003 to their axims w/o paying for the upgrade. So Dell pulled the download off the site and you must wait for the CD like everyone else.

I think some people in the UK or Germany have, but not in the US yet

Now people have been getting their new axims with the upgrade installed after a long wait in the US...maybe that's what you read.

Well they said my cd shipped out thursday and i was expecting it today since everything else ive ordered from them got to me in 3 days, but it still has another 2 days by the 5 day shipping thing. Wait actually todays the fourth day, it better come tomorrow.

Anyway, im in the u.s. and i was told (on the order page) that my upgrade CD WAS shipped, and is in the 'in transit' stage, but since they havnt given me so much as a tracking number. Im still hopeful its on the way though.

I'm going to start a new thread with a different name

If a Moderator wants to help me out by merging the threads that would be great. I'm not sure that is possible unless you are a Mod.
