Hi Guys,

I just thought that I would post a little theory that I occurred to me regarding the problem with the A05 Rom Updater.

Given the following:
Axim Basic seems to have less problems than Advanced

Basic and Advanced ROM images sizes are the same

Attempts to correlate why some units work and others don't have failed.

A04 performace problems were most associated memory I/O speed.

Has anyone tried to perform an update with the CPU speed explicitly set low (200Mhz) ?

Perhaps the problem is associated with memory I/O performance on the current A04 ROM? The same platform that has memory I/O problems could also have problems associated with memory latency.

It makes sense. Sporadic random failures on the exact same hardware. Maybe some memory lots pass the update procedure and others do not?

I wanted to try it on my Ax tonight, but I left the charger at the office today and the ROM updater will not allow an update if the charger is not connected.

Anyone care to give it a try?

Remember, this is only a theory...
