Difficult question

I am trying out Valksoft Space Reclaimer which is supposed to clear out files like temporary IE files. It never does and I suspect it may be because my Ax is set up wrong....

In the Windows directory of my Ax there is a directory called 'Profiles' and a subdirectory 'guest' which is where all my IE temp files and cookies are stored.

Should this not be a directory named for your activesync partnership instead of 'guest'?

I tried an experiment and renamed the 'guest' folder to my activesync partnership name but the Ax just re-created a folder in profiles called 'guest' and threw the IE content in there again.

So, my question is, what is in YOUR profiles directory?? Is it 'guest' or your activesync partnership name??

When you sync, on the PC's main Activesync window does it have the PPC name or does it say Guest?

it usually says the PPC name but I notice the last time it said 'guest'.....maybe because I was screwing around with the profiles directory?

ha ha, maybe. Are you connecting via USB or wifi? Might want to try and put the directories back how they were or just recreate the partnership

I'm syncing via USB. I'll try and re-create the partnership.

Thanks for your help....

odd. I don't even have a profiles directory in windows. my temp files are in \windows\temporary internet files\. did you install something that changed your directory structure?

That is odd. I do have the temporary internet files folder but never any files in it. They all go to the profiles directory under windows.

I'm running the A05 update - maybe it's a 2003 thing?

Sorry to bring back this very old topic.

However, I just noticed today that I'm having the same problem with my X3i. The Windows\Profiles\Guest directory is almost 8mb !!! And it's all temp internet files and cookies. I was wondering why the utilities that clean temp files didn't seem to make much difference.

Is it safe for me to just delete this folder?

My X3i's ActiveSync profile is called "X3i", and I don't recall it ever being shown up as "guest".

Thanks in advance for any help.

Anyone know why the temp internet files are being put in this very strange location?
