Support said wm2003 patch in 1 week

Just got off the phone with Dell. I was told the patch will be available in one week. They also told me - my email would be fowarded to a group that will send me the link to the patch.

We'll see

Thanks.

No, please do not share the link. I have not heard anything about this method of Dell providing a download link. But if they are doing this, then they are sending the link privately to those that have contacted them and need the link. So if you need the link, try contacting Dell like fresno did. But please, do not share the link on the forums. Thanks.

Hmm

Well if people can't post a link, can someone just post that a "fixed" patch is available. Then I can go to the Dell Support Forum for more info. I hate the stupid Dell Phone maze!!

WM2003 from A04 to A05

Got a call from Dell today telling me that the shipdate for the upgrade from WM2003 A04 to A05 will be in 3-4 weeks.
It will most likely be on CD and send directly to those on file who purchased an Axim 5 with WM2003 version A04.

Just got to be a bit more patient...these things are complex and not necessarily easy to fix.
He also told me that the Patch which was on the Dell sites before is no good and is no official release.

Cheers

I think that given all of the apparently conflicting information on this, in reality the only thing that is a certainty is that there is no definite release date.

If I was to chose one though I'd place my bets with the 3-4 week CD shipment statement. Have a feeling Dell may just send some of the same upgrade CDs they're preparing for 2002 -> 2003 upgrades to the A04 users for free.

I must say though that I would have thought that they would have been a bit quicker about all of this though. If the tech who made this statement knew what he was talking about, then I'm forced to wonder if maybe Dell is going to release an entirely new ROM revision when they finally ship the fixes/upgrades, A06 maybe?

It would make some sense since I remember talk about Microsoft releasing an update for the OS, and Dell still seemed to have some lingering sound problems with A05, so maybe they just figured it would be best to call A05 a fluke and work on the next ROM as they fix the installer.

Yes absolutely, as soon as Dell officially releases a patch, feel free to post the info about it. The reason we can't post the links at this point, is because Dell has not officially released it.....so therefore, it is not supposed to be distributed to any Axim users at this point. But again, as soon as it is released, you'll know about it. :)

Did you hear from Dell about the hacked patch fiasco? You seem a little edgy.

I also called Dell support and heard that the patch will be available in 1 week. The indian dude I spoke to also said that I will be emailed when the patch was available and then proceeded to say "thankyou come again" in the same vein as Apu Nahasapeenerpedalon and hung up the phone......

My only issue was he neglected to get my name or email address!

I talked to Dell support yesterday and they told me the same thing so maybe this isn't the same B.S. we usually get.
