I found it not to be as functional as the today screen can't add anywhere near as many icons/apps.

However is does look good and the familier feel of xp comes across well which makes it a very easy app to use.

It swallows up a huge chunk of memory when its running and can also act odd when switching back after closing an application.
Cheers

I could never figure out why someone would want to mimic a desktop OS (let alone XP) on a PPC screen.

Looks like my messy Windows XP desktop.

Why? Why? Why?

Does anyone know whether eXPerience is compatible with pocket breeze or pocket informant??? I like the look of XP on my PPC but not at the cost of sacrificing pocket breeze.....I already have one wisbar advance 2 and pocket breeze skin that somewhat resembles XP but am looking for more....could anybody kindly post the links for these kinds of skins.....thanks

According to the vendor description:

Today Plug-in Hosting

Display plug-ins right inside eXPerience. The plug-ins display in dialog style allowing you to freely drag them around the screen.

where did you get that description from??? I guess that means that I can run pocket breeze no problem!!! Would you know if that applies to ilauncher2 as I like to have my icons (quicklaunch style) on my taskbar but also know that that is a property for eXPerience that will only come in future versions 3.xx and is only up to 2.09 now, I think....thanks...oh yeah, does anyone know of wisbar2 and pocket breeze XP skins.....

I tried it and did not like it. Of coars I tried on my 4700. Man did it look like crap. Also I could not figure out how to get Icons on the descktop. Then when I started messing with it it crashed on me. One thing I did like was that it showed the running apps in the taask bar, helped alot.

ROBI1303 - NO, I posted it here because I realized that maby the o/s thread was
A BETTER PLACE to discuss it than the OTHER THREAD, where people are more interested in COMPLAINING about their lastest problem...
----------------
JNGOLD - WHO EVER SAID IT WAS ABOUT MIMICKING A DESKTOP O/S ... ITS ABOUT HAVING BETTER FUNCTIONALITY ( ALL IN ONE PROGRAM) INSTEAD OF 10 OR 12 OTHER PROGRAMS TO MAKE THE SUCKED UP WIN MOBILE 2003 WITH ALMOST ZERO USER CONTROLS MORE USER FRIENDLY AND CONFIGURABLE...
YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WITH USING THIS PROGRAM IS.. ITS SO DAM GOOD THAT ITS TOO COMPLICATED FOR MOST PEOPLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW IT WORKS...

NOT ONE PERSON NOTED THAT THIS PROGRAM HAS AN INSTANT HI RES VGA FEATURE THAT WORKS BETTER THAN ANY ON THE MARKET... BUT THEN..NOBODY PROBABLY LOOKED THAT DEEPLY.. OR THAT IT HAS ITS OWN BUILT IN ICON MAKER AND EDITOR....

OR THAT YOU CAN ACUTALLY CHANGE THE WITE BACKGROUND OF THE TODAY SCREEN TO ANY COLOR YOU LIKE....
OR ZILLION OTHER STANDARD WINDOWS PC FEATURES.. DOH !
-------------------------------------------------------
BUMP THAT...
LETS SEE.. you couldnt figure out even the most basic function of the program, so
ITS CRAPPY AND STUPID...????? RIGHT...I'D EXPECT SOMETHING LIKE THAT OUT OF MY TEENAGE KIDS....
--------------------------------------------------------------

I did not know that the program had been out for a while... BECUASE IVE NOT SEEN ONE PERSON MENTION HERE IN THE FORUMS...EVER.. AND IVE BEEN HERE A WHILE,
SO I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING NEW AND INTERESTING THAT SOMEONE MIGHT APPRECIATE TRYING....

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND, AND REMEMBER,

IF YOU DONT LIKE GETTING IT BACK..THEN DONT START IT.

No it looks crappy. It not really VGA opyimized IMO. I likr to see it in sharp graphics. I also gave up so quickly because it tokk up so much memory and slowed my whole device down. I tried tapping and holding but it took forever. Like I said I did like it. I dont know Raider4700...mayber you are the critic type...hate to be criticised on my opinion. ANd no where did I say stupid. If I had a QVGA iPAQ, I am sure it would look great, but hmmm...I dont. Anyways, I am going to give it another go, but first I will have to clear off my today screen.

Raider,

You don't get it? The abovementioned product mimics a desktop environment and follows desktop XP methods for its User Interface. Why do do you think the Pocket PC (now Windows Mobile) interface differs from the desktop?

Hey man, I am a professional software developer and the words you posted above are the kiss of death for any application. Face it, we are not talking Enterprise Resource Management, we a talking about a UI on a handheld device - you better have it "easy to use" or otherwise people just won't use it.

I think people looking for more control and organization over their PocketPC's would be best served by looking toward items that work more closely with the interface the way it was designed (mainly Today Screen plug-ins, App Launchers, and Task Managers, skinning apps, etc). You may feel that all these things are centralized into a single application but I guarantee you that it may not be the most efficient solution out there - and may tend to slow down your device(ie. Dashboard for the PPC was a real pig of an application).

But hey, if you want to litter your PPC desktop with icons and deal with XP menus on a handheld device then so be it. Just like it's your right to do that, it's my right to question it.
