MS Access for the Ipaq
Hi There, this is my first post.
Is MS Access available for the Ipaq RZ 1700 running Windows Mobile 2003. I am looking to create a customer database and would like to use MS Access if possible because the database has been commenced already on Access on the work PC's. However, I am open to any suggestions. I am a new operator on the portable devices so be gentle!! Cheers, David S.

DB Anywhere as well as HanDBase are both, from my own observations some really good 3rd party applications for Databases.
I personally went with "HanDBase Professional 3x". Reason is that I can construct databases, including the forms, on the fly, without the computer. Otherwise, both applications (indeed, there are more, too. Definitely do a search at pocketgear.com and even try www.freewareppc.com too!) are capable of just syncing and displaying databases from the PC to the handheld. Good luck.

Please do not buy DB Anywhere if you are expecting full Access functionality. Purely because it doesn't exist on Pocket PC! Microsoft have never really got the concept that people need a proper program to deal with databases on their Pocket PC's, so they can sync them, and not lose information.

David S,
Welcome to this site. You can go to handango.com to check on the database section to try all the softwares mentioned above to see which one you likes. http://www.handango.com/SoftwareCate...itle=Databases If you already had the data in the Access Database, you can try to sync it onto the Pocket PC via ActiveSync (option Pocket Access), which convert the .mdb to .cdb. So you make sure the software you select from handango can read the standard .cdb file. As far as I know, HandDbase has its own database format which is not compatible with Desktop Access. (I might be wrong.) Good luck in your software selection process.

I've had problems with using ActiveSync to convert large databases from Access to .cdb on my hx2755. They often don't go to the correct directory and hang in the middle of the conversion, besides the fact that it takes forever to convert.
Does anyone know of ANY other converter for this? Thanks. Geoffrey
