Leave a email copy on the server

Hi,

I have multiple email account setup on my h6315, sadly it doesn't seem to be able to leave a copy of the emails on the server. I wish to be able to retreive all emails even those i got on my ipaq on to my office or home pc. the only work around i found is to create new email that would be added to a mailing list with the original account. That would have all incoming mail go to 2 different email account. The down site i get all email twice, on my ipaq and office computer. If i retreive 20 emails at the office i will get all those also on the ipaq something i would like to avoid?

I use a Ipaq H6315 with Microsoft pocket pc ver 4.2

Anyone?

Have you tried going into Accounts in Inbox and setting it to delete messages manually?

Open inbox and goto Accounts -> Accounts -> Message Tab. Under the Empty deleted items dropdown box select Manually. This allows you to manually delete any items in all email accounts thus essentially leaving a copy on the server. If it is set to anything else then as you delete messages on the PPC it will eventually get deleted on the email server.

I was already set at manual, but i'm not sure i understand or probably what you are telling me is not at all what i want. When i check my email i want to mail client (on the pocket pc OS) to leave a copy of the email it retreive to my mail server. The same thing has microsoft outlook under mail account\internet e-mail setting\advanced tab under "delivery" then check box "Leave a copy of messages on the server"

Pocket PCs and Smartphones work in this manner which you are describing. I do it all the time on my Smartphone. When you download email from an email server a copy is saved on the server by default. The only time the message gets deleted is when you delete it on the PPC or Smartphone and you connect again to that email account. If you have your PPC setup for Immediate or Next Connect then the email will eventually get deleted. But if you have it set to Manual then it won't get deleted on the email server allowing you to manually delete the email messages there.

Haa...now i understand.

So even tho i had it to manual, i was deleting the email i had read, so next time i would connect it would get deleted to the server. So basicly email i want to retreive once at the office i simply have to leave them in my inbox!?

Ya da man whitelyt

Thanks

EL

So far, so good, Ted. But suppose I don't want to let my Inbox get more and more swollen with messages? Is there a way to clear them out without triggering their removal from the server the next time I connect to it? if I deleted them with a File Explorer (rather than through Outlook itself), how do we think Outlook would react?

Thanks.
