PPC 2003 and AVANTGO

Hi there,

I can't get my avantgo to work with PPC2003, after moving to A05 from A03, if I load A03 back it works fine...

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same trouble.

Vicks.

I had to go into settings under active sych and redo my login name/password, once I did that, I resynched, worked fine.

IE in ppc2003 is SO much faster too.

I really love AvantGo. its brilliant! I dont yet have a WiFi card in my Axim, and wont for some time.. -dont even have Wireless Networking for my PCs, and work isn't going to get it for years.

It would be nice, to be on the net all the time though, but I'll stick with AvantGo for now, I love reading the news anywhere!

yeah it helps me kill my time if i'm waiting anywhere and I have nothing to do ... .

I wouldn't probably read the newspaper... but now i can just read the news on my pocketpc and it doesn't cost me anything to use avantgo...

plus i can have the weather information and stuff on there...

avantgo really helps eveyrone who isn't completely wireless yet!

Yeah, AvantGo is great!

Hmm, Weather Info... that sounds a good idea, as I never have time to check the weather on TV / Radio.. -but I would, on my PDA, im sure!

Its a great replacement for a newspaper really. I have mine subscribed to "Routers" and "The Times" and "VNUNet" I'll probably add weather soon, -shame its only got a 2mb quota, for free. but its more than enough!

I think i'll still use AvantGo when I am wireless. I think its just so much easier, than surfing to different sites. I have it as my home page, so I just open IE and then click on the times, or routers, or whatever...

its my homepage too, and yeah even if i get wireless i'd probably still use avantgo because it is way cheaper ... even if wireless network in the area is free, it can't be as fast as pages load with avantgo..

Where is AvantGo

I just got my Axim 5X with Windows Mobile 2003 pre-installed (A5). I've enabled the AvantGo sync in ActiveSync. I've been on AvantGo.com and created a user. When syncing the AvantGo Connect contuit downloads the requested web pages and places them in the \windows\avantgo folder on the PDA.

But where is the AvantGo client itself? I cannot find it, and I cannot download it (avantgo.com claims that since I have Windows Mobile 2003 I already have it installed).

This is silly. Please help.

No, you wont. All that's in the \Windows\AvantGo folder is the page data that you have dowloaded.

You actually need to use Pocket Internet Explorer for viewing avantgo contents. Seems they have added a new protocol.
The URL is avantgo://avantgo/home

Searching various news groups I came over several other people experiencing the same problem. It was linked to me having a Palm PDA before and already having AvantGo installed there. There was some mixup with the Palm AvantGo settings the the Pocket PC settings. After uninstalling AvantGo and hardresetting the Pocket PC everything worked as per manual.

This is my EXACT concern with my new AXIM. I can see it syncing the avantgo but in my connections menu there is no Avantgo Connection to start.

Anyone have an idea of how to fix this??

TIA.

I had a hell of a time syncing my New X5 with Avantgo and I had a palm also. I had to Hard reset my X5 and when I checked Avantgo, I let it use its built in password, then it connected. Afterwards, I logged into Avantgo, and sent through the setup and she works fine now, but I think it Avantgo was sending me info in Palm format. Try it. It worked in my case.

I had a Sony CLIE and still do. So here is my update and fix for similar problems such as synching but not seeing Avantgo Connection Icons or Program Icons when using your Axim.

After my post, I read about ActiveSync 3.7 having some issues with Avantgo. So I uninstalled ActiveSync, got an error to reinstall in order to uninstall. THought that was odd, so I re-installed AS 3.7 and hard reset my Axim.

Everything is fine now.

How do you go about uninstalling AvantGo? I tried clicking on Add/Remove Programs in AS but nothing shows up.
