Yeah, talented vs. untalented is probably more appropriate.

I probably should have started my post off saying "I'd like to think that Dell is working on A06."

Yes, Dell's track record on this isn't the greatest, but I guess I'm still hoping they'll come through in the end. I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised if they announce in a week or so that PPC 2002 -> WM2003 upgrades have been cancelled and are no longer supported.

I'm sure that if the R&D and tech support costs from WM2003 upgrades that are probably already stacking up clearly begin to outweigh what are probably marginal benefits to Dell of keeping their older customers happy, then that's probably what they'd do.

I'm also not to sure that would bother me that much anymore (aside from the fact that I would be mad at Dell for backing out of their commitment) with all of the poor compatibility reports that I keep hearing about with WM2003. The more I think about it the more PPC 2002 seems to be absolutely fine for the time being (the whole 'if it ain't broke' phenomenon), I could always just wait and get WM2003 on my next handheld by which time it would probably be mature anyway. The only feature I'm really looking forward to anyway is practical wifi support and a faster PIE. Wifi support in PPC 2002 feels like a bit of an afterthought.

I have to tell you, WM2003 was sweet. I really liked it. If I was waiting on Dell for a release and they backed out, I would be pretty much done with Dell.

Fortunately, I won't let Dell put me in that position. :D

OffTopic: Have you seen the NEC MobilePro 900? (don't mind the drool). I just wish I could afford it right now and I think my wife or children would get the Axim and I would be done with it. :D Back to reality, I can't afford it so I MUST deal with Dell...

OnTopic: I didn't mean to nit-pick your post. Sorry that it reads that way( when I re-read it) I just see those letter (D...e...l...l...) and some fuse burns out in me! :crooked:

Dell makes computers, code should be left done to those who know it best, like IBM and not a company that makes its buck from hardware. Subcontract someone who can get it right and can be FTPEd from the site, it just makes sense and $.

Cool NEC MobilePro 900

The NEC MobilPro 900 looks "almost" just like what I want. But like you said, it's a little to spendy and it looks a little heavy.

I haven't been on the boards a lot lately but I downloaded the A05 patch and it wouldn't install...sez you can't install MSPPC A02 to MSPPC A05. Are you supposed to have WM 2003 already installed? Whats the big deal anyway? How can I get the Wm2003 upgrade disk, I know they've been delayed but I'd like to order one

with the A05 that was on dell's FTP server, you can only upgrade from A04 to A05.

To go from A02 to A05 you need to CALL dell and order a WM2003 upgrade disc

Well I got my Axim in Feb. the whole experience from almost day one with Dell has been a bad one. I like the Axim but really do wish I had spent a bit more for the Toshiba or an Ipaq. It would not surprise me that Dell would go back on their word and not offer the upgrade to those of us that bought an Axim with PPC 2002. I don’t think I want it either with all the issues it seams to have. Dell repeatedly lies about how good their customer service is to the world on TV. So why not lie about an upgrade to people that have already done business with them and may not ever spend one more dime at Dell. No skin off their nose.

I have purchased Dell Desktops and Laptops since the very early 90's. But my whole experience over the Axim has shown me that Dell no longer care about their once true mission statement of Quality over Quantity.

I shall replace this Axim next year. I can say it shall not be replaced with a Dell Product, nor shall any of my other Dell systems (desktop & laptop) be replaced with Dells. I am soured on Dell and shall never give them money again. Their crappy service to many others and me is all the proof one needs that has made me bitter toward Dell computers. They are no more than a fancier Packard-Bell. And we know where they are now. Ipaq and HP here I come.
