Outlook Data Storage
Hi all,
I was trying to fathom out why my HX4700 memory was diminishing, when I realised that the "missing space" must be taken up with my appointments etc. I could do with keeping all my previous appointments (going back almost every day for a year) as I need to be able to look back to find out where I was, and call history etc (I am computer engineer and use the Ipaq for my jobs). SO to the question.....Is there any way I can move my Outlook data onto an SD card as I have a 1gig currently in the machine and I guess that'll allow a large number of appointments. It'll be a pain if I need to swap memory cards I think, unless outlook just sees no data until the card is replaced. I know I want the best of both worlds, but I really would like to keep at least the majority of my appointments available. I use Pocket Informant 2005 for my PIM. Thanks! FastBlueLion

i don't think you can... but you could go into outlook and 'archive' your old apointments on your PC. That way you could still have them, but just not on your axim.
(also have you tried other things like clearing your Web Cache if you use it for web browsing etc...)

How often do you do a soft reset? Doing this a on (fairly) regular basis will help free up memory, as there is always a memory 'drain', caused by memory not being freed up when an application is closed (or minimised).

Thanks for the replies!
I do soft reset every couple of days, and I do tend to delete the temporary files, so it's not really going to make much difference. I suppose I'll just have to stop carrying more than a month about. If anyone comes up with something, please let me know, even if it means a different PIM. That is so long as I can import outlook data! Regards FastBlueLion

Well, you could export your old Outlook data to a comma delimited file. In that format, you could import it (really just open it up and store it) into an Excel file that you could keep on a storage card. There are probably some database software programs that you could buy and load to your PDA that could also accommodate the comma delimited info.
