ActiveSync Problems on WM2003

Has anyone else experienced continuous connection problems with WM2003 to activesync?
It doesn't seem to stay connected to my computer for more than a few minutes at a time. My old 2002 device stayed connected until I physically took it out of its cradle. My 2003 device seems to randomly disconnect all the time!

I have a friend who upgraded his 2002 device to 2003 and claims the same problem, and he's using a cable not a cradle. Does anyone have a solution? Its ever so annoying to have to keep resetting my handheld.

Under ActiveSync -
Tools --> Options
Under the Schedule Tab make sure that 'When Connected to My PC, Sync: Continuously is selected.

I have yet to have the problem under WM2003. With PPC2002 I had it all the time, that or the unable to connect.

I hope someone gives you a good answer to the problem soon.

Dishan1, I have this same problem too. However, if I unplug my Axim and then replug it into the cradle, it stays connected the 2nd time.

Hmm

I have the same problem. Even when I take the Axim out of the cradle and put it back in, same problem.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm running the WM 2003, with the upgrade already installed in the Axim I received a few weeks ago.

Isn't it strange that there haven't been complaints by other people? I wonder if we're of the only few experiencing this. I was hoping to find some sort of solution, but at least I feel better knowing I'm not the only one!

Solution!

I think I found the problem. On top of making the setting changes on your desktop, you also have to make the setting changes within your Axim ActiveSync program. On your Axim, make the setting change so that it won't disconnect when it's done synching.

It worked for me. So far, in the last 30 minutes, no disconnects!

:D

The only problem is that the setting you speak of is only for when you're syncing remotely, not from the cradle. But I'm glad it's working better for you now. :)

Actually, the settings I was speaking of were when in the cradle.

But that was my imagination playing a wild trick on me. It DOESN'T work.

Back to square one.

Mad

I have had similar problems with active sync. I use the same cradle between work and home for now. I couldn't get it to sync at home last night, it would just keep looking for changes. I reinstalled active sync 3.7. then had one failure then disconnected and had no problems. This morning at work it sync fine then i made a change on the desktop computer calendar and then it says my axim is not connected. I had to soft reset and then it finally worked. I also noticed that my schedule meetings are one hour ahead on my today screen?

Any input is apperciated.

In the process of all that resetting and re-installing, it sounds like your time zones lost their sync. Someone I know who was using two computer had a similar problem- One computer was in daylight savings time, and the other wasn't... the pocket PC thought it was being all smart by bridging that gap and automatically re-adjusting the times for the new zone (exactly one hour off).

Now why all this happened in the first pace... I dunno. Just hope it doesn't happen again.

Yes, based on what I've read on the Dell Support forum, one option is to uninstall and re-install ActiveSync, and the problem should go away.

I'll try that tonight.
