outlook 2002

I bought a new laptop in January (running xp home), which had a free trial of office 2003. I tried it and liked it but at the moment can't afford it, so followed the instructions to remove it (from the add/remove programmes).

Now I cannot re-install Outlook 2002. When I try to install it from the CD it says that outlook isn't available and the times when I seem to have got it on my computer everything has been disabled so I presume it is the disabled version of the Outlook 2003.

Help!!!

You may need to delete your profile (copied from Microsoft's site - link follows below):

To recreate your Outlook profile after reinstalling a previous version of Outlook

On the Start menu, click Run, and then enter Outlook /cleanprofile.
When Outlook starts up, it prompts you for the required information to create a new profile.

Any settings that you set in Outlook 2003 will not be retained when you revert to a previous installation of Outlook. Outlook settings will revert to default values or will be set as they were before you installed Outlook 2003 (depending on the setting).

Thanks I tried that but I can't intsall Outlook.
I have an outlook 2000 cd and two cds with outlook 2002 on and none of them will let me upload it onto my computer, there is just a read cross beside the outlook.

I wonder if it is something to do with having loaded it onto the PC too many times (I have recently had an extremely unstable PC which crashed all of the time)? Does anybody know what I am supposed to do about this?

I have never used this utility, but you could try running Microsoft's Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:

You may need to clean ALL aspects of Outlook2003, including the registry.
Try the CleanUp Utility as mentioned above.
One can install Outlook as many times as necessary, I've done it literally hundreds of times.
I don't even think that Outlook2000 needs activation, therefore making the process fairly simple.
Delete the profiles, clean the registry, and reboot. Outlook should install (and should install regardless of any other Outlook versions, but for some reason it will not on your PC).
I have Office2003 AND Office 2002 (XP) installed on my PC, both work perfectly and installed without problems.

Thank you, thank you. It was the profile thing I think that was the problem. Anyway I'm syncing to my heart's content now.
