Need to do a hard reset, how to backup info?
I have to do a hard reset as it seems many things are corrupt on my Ipaq.
I am unable to obtain BT with my GPS. When syncing my contacts and calender information are not accesible. So before syncing, how do I back up all my information adequatley? I have it backed up to my SD card and also have it most of the info on my laptop, but it has not been syncing properly recently so I would like to start fresh with the system and programs. Is it possible to back up just the data to the SD card? I don't want to refresh after a hard reset and get my corrupt system back. Thanks

I removed Activesync from my laptop and reinstalled it then when I went to setup a new partnership, it said contacts and calender were not installed.
I use Pocket informant for my PIM, how do I fix this? Thanks

Do you have Sprite Backup (iPAQ Backup) installed? If so, you can use that to make a complete backup. However, if you want to start from scratch and you have your My Documents folder backed up I would suggest that you installed programs one at a time again as some backed up files may be causing your problems and you will only get them back again.

It seems some data is seriously corrupted on your device. You don't want to inheret the same problems when you do a hard reset by reinstalling the corrupted files. So I suggest that you try to backup your CONTACTS & APPOINTMENTS ONLY. SInce you're having a problem with ActiveSync, I would suggest you use whatever internal backup program came with your PPC or download and install Sprite Backup. Again, only backup Contacts and Appointments. You don't want to backup anything else because the chances of it being corrupted and wasting your time doing a hard reset is very high.
Make sure to backup to your SD/CF card, which is preferred or your desktop. Delete the Active Sync partnership. (If you've been having serious problems with AC, uninstall it completely. Reboot your PC, download the latest version of AC from M$ if you have a WM5 device or use AC 3.7 or 3.8 is you have a WM2003, 2003SE or lower device.) Hard reset your device per manufacturer directions. Use the backup you made of your contacts and appointments to reinstall them on your fresh device. Connect your device to your PC with Active Sync. Follow the one screen prompts. You'll want to install the software you had on your device but I would suggest you do so, one by one, checking to make sure that nothing gets corrupted or there isn't a program that you might have installed that was causing the problems. I hope this helps you in some way! Good luck. ![]()
