how to install CAB file where I want it

So, I have this cab file, actually an upgrade for the ALK copilot software. It doesn't appear to be an upgrade perse, more like a REINSTALL since it requires a removal of the current software and INSTALL of this software CAB.

Problem is, I have the CAB file downloaded, but when I go to use the handy dandy CAB INSTALL program, selecting the CAB file, it either continues to ask me to select a valid CAB file, or when I select the cab file, and the destination on the SD CARD, it just runs but times out, not doing any install.

are there CAB files that will ONLY install to local memory? Or, is there some heading information that I could hack in the CAB file to have it install to a folder on the SD card?

thoughs?

one can find the cab file in question at the ALK site.

thanks, not sure if you hooked up with the text of the message, but none of the normal solutions are working.

cabinstal isn't recognizing the .cab file, and won't run the install. And the cab itself is only dumping into mains.

anyone know about hacking cab install files, for their header and target folder info?
