Quite a few of us in the UK ordered the upgrade CD at the back end of June and received it about three weeks ago. Yes, our order status kept changing by the minute but it eventually came and installed with no problems. Didn't notice any difference in speed though, it didn't seem any slower than with 2002. Only that some software/hardware didn't then work, including Dell branded products! Don't know why they have not fulfilled the more recent orders in the UK if it worked? Or perhaps they are trying to get driver support fixed before re-releasing it? Who knows, Dell won't tell you, whoever you speak too will tell you something different! Customer CARE! A joke...
Certainly seems a fiasco over the pond, wonder how much business they are losing through this? They have lost me to Ipaq, they seemed to have got their act together much better than Dell. Shame their Forum website is not as slick as this. Can't have everything.

Hi all,
Just thought I would keep you all informed that I decided to checked on my wm2003 upgrade CD status and it says that it has been sent via UPS.
I called UPS with the tracking number to verify this and indeed they have the parcel and should be delivered in the next day or so.
Hang in there, they are being sent......

Well I caved in and told Dell to keep my order going despite my earlier decision to cancel it. This was mostly because I got a good deal when I bought it and I probably wouldn't get it for the same price if I reordered later.
I'm really hoping that all of the reports on here indicating a mid-september release prove true.

I sent the 'where's my order?' email when the site couldn't give the status last night and got the reply today that it must be on its way as it's been invoiced. So it should be here next week sometime - we'll see....
Why are we getting deliveries and not the US? Perhaps Dell's using us as beta testers.....

Well I emailed Dell this A.M. and just got this response from them
"Thank you for contacting Dell Online Customer Care.
I understand where you are coming from and I apologize for any
inconvenience this matter may have brought you.
Please be advised that orders for pocket pc 2003 will not be
processed until approximately September 9th. We will begin shipping
the upgrades once Dell is satisfied that the Upgrade O/S meets
our highest quality standards for performance with our Axim PDAs.
Rest assured that your account has been forwarded to the appropriate
department and will remain in active files until we are able
to process these orders."
So either they are blowing smoke up my a** for the thousanth time or maybe they are actually going to ship soon.

I think they are really going to ship it, mid-sept. I've been asking for updates sence the post of the product number on this website and they really never sure. At least all these mid-sept answers make sence with each maybe dell figured out how dates and deadlines work, oh that would be so great. The info from my guy at dell still says mid-sept, so that helps make that date a little more sure.

I got an email from Dell too about a 10-14 ship date on the upgrade. Yeesh! I played by the rules and didn't download the ftp upgrade that Dell mistakenly posted. Hope playing by the rules works out. I don't want another pda. I want the upgrade that Dell and Microsoft promised.
Any lawyers out there?? <G>

I agree that the fact that there are many reports indicating a mid-September deadline is reassuring. However, I am still quite skeptical that Dell will actually have it out by then. This is sort of like the boy who cried wolf now. There have been too many false starts now and frankly, I won't believe it until people start getting their CDs.
I also find the following statement entertaining.. "We will begin shipping the upgrades once Dell is satisfied that the Upgrade O/S meets our highest quality standards for performance with our Axim PDAs..."
a) Dell pretty much said the same thing before the shortlived august release of the patch and we all know what happened there.
b) I think that if Dell was capable of delivering on this promise they would have by now as having this mess go on and on is definitely not in their best interests. So unless I am totally blown away by how well this upgrade works, these are empty words for the time being.
All of this being said I am fairly sure Dell will try to have something out this month for two reasons: first, it would look pretty bad if their upgrade came out after all of their competitors' upgrades even though it was promised first; second, the impending release of the Axim X3. I think that Dell will probably want to have closure on this issue before their new PDA hits the market.

My upgrade CD still says it's shipping on September 26. I wonder if it would actually update if it was shipping sooner?

not likely, see cmms_axim's post on page one of this thread. it's a perfect example of the way Dell communicates about shipping, and most everything else for that matter. - mm

Now it's October 6th
i just got the e-mail from Dell saying that they can't ship my WM 2003 Upgrade CD now until 10/6. Also, if I don't call/e-mail them by 9/10 they wil CANCEL my order.
My order status page still says 9/10 now...what a mess!!!
I was one of the 1st to order on 6/24 so I guess I'll just keep on waiting into October now.
They should really give some type of coupon/freebie to those that ordered in the first few weeks. I know...that will never happen.
Maybe we'll get it before WM2004 is out!

Mine arrived yesterday in a box big enough to house a decent pizza. I'll have a go at the upgrade this evening.
