In an earlier reply to someone, I said I had gone to HP because Dell couldn't get its act together over this upgrade. I stupidly said HP were much more organised than Dell. How wrong can you be? Looking at posts on the HP site, it appears that HP are releasing about four CD's a week for upgrade requests! Perhaps, when it all goes wrong, as it did in Dell's case, they will be able to write/email individual customers and ask them for the CD back or even send a man with a van round to collect them all!! Te He!

I also have an Axim X5 with A04 and got fed up waiting. So I phoned Dell last week Friday afternoon and said that the unit they had shipped (30 June 2003) was not functioning properly with the faulty ROM and that under the Sales of Goods Act (this is UK law) they have to either refund it or replace it. This applies even outside the 30-day period as the product was effectively faulty from the time it was shipped.
This worked a treat as within minutes they were taking my details to send me a new unit to replace mine. It got delivered today with A05 and I am now waiting for Dell to contact me to collect the Axim with A04...
