PPC 2003, mid-sept

I know im a new member to the site but ive been reading the forums for some time now so dont just right this off. I just found out through my source at dell that the 2003 cds will be shipping in mid- sept. Dont worry the source is not some guy from india, he's from dell's us divison. He is pretty credible, for I was able to get me a computer 30% off and 2nd day free shipping(no not just dell specials this discount was on top of the normal dell deals) , I know he most have some power inside the company. Excuse my spelling because I know people are going to complain. If you need verifcation i have the email and will post that but i thought this would be good news for everyone out there.

My ship date was 9/19 and now its 9/4 so that sounds about right. I have a feeling that I wont get it until 9/2/2004 though!

I just received an email notice from dell (below) that my update won't be until October. I told them I still want it, but it is taking a very long time.

We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship
your order sooner,

we are experiencing an unexpected delay and will not be able to ship this
order and

any associated orders until on or before 10/14/2003.

If you do not wish to wait, you may cancel your order and receive a prompt
refund.

I think we should start facing the fact that Dell is NOT going to release the upgrade CD. If they are in fact coming out with the x3 soon why would they piss around with it. They will probably just give everyone a discount on the x3 instead of sending out upgrade CD's for the x5.

Unless an X3 is going to cost me $29.95, I want my upgrade cd.

But yet the upgrade CD is available on Dell's UK web site. I would love to get a clear answer from Dell as to why this is the case.

The UK has been getting the CD for a month now. I haven't heard anything from anyone in the UK about how it is running though.

Anyone else?

I just got an email stating that my ship date has been postponed to Oct. 14 as well. I'm probably not going to contact them and I'll just let my order get cancelled. I'm tired of having to wait around for this thing and for news of when I should finally be expecting it. Even if it does eventually come out, I'd probably wait a couple of weeks to see how people are doing with it before I decide whether to reorder it or not.

The way things have gone so far, I wouldn't be surprised if Dell once Dell does release the CD, some new bug would be discovered and then they'd cancel it and start working on another patch to come out next year. I'm hoping they'll prove me wrong. :)

Yes, hence me needing the update ! :rolling:

Why get rid of it ? Because I have accepted the fact that there is no such thing as "customer support" at Dell !

To DELL, youve had money off me once for what I consider to be a lacklustre piece of kit, I WONT ever make that same mistake again ! You are the weakest link................GOODBYE !!! ;)

It may be on the Dell UK web site but it ain't shipping. I ordered through Dell UK on 15th August and the web site still can't give any sort of order status.
