My new Axim and Windows 2003

oooh, my first post...how exciting
I've had my axim for about 6 weeks and a techie friend of mine just told me that Dell are having problems - My Dell willl be very slow and not work properly. I've nothing to compare it to. It is sometimes slow when opening word or excel but other times OK.
Can anyone help?
I'm not very up on jargon and stuff so good old fashioned English would be great.

Thanks in advance

PS why does it always try to connect to the internet when I slot it in cradle for an activesync?

I would check the ROM.

Hit the start button. Then hit Settings. Once in setting hit the system tab (at the bottom, middle). Then hit your system information icon.

What is your ROM update? If you have A04 then you will run slow and slugish. If you have ROM A05 then your ok, that is the ROM that you should be running!

Hope that helps!

Gonna have to call up Dell, and let them know they need to ship you an update CD. The CDs have still not begun shipping yet, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I called Dell earlier today and they didn't have any ETA at all as to when the update CD's will ship yet and the rep had absolutely no clue - no tech release of what all is in it (to fix feature wise).

The quickly removed version of the A05 update from Dell's FTP server some time ago is still available on the net if you know what you're looking for and can't wait for the cd.

While many have done this, I recommend that even if you do run across the file on the net, don't use it. I'm not even messing with the legal mess, but just the fact that many people had installation issues with that original version.
