Hi, I received the exact same e-mail today from Dell. I have been waiting since June for the upgrade. Does anyone have any idea as to why Dell is encouraging cancellation of the order?

I just received the same email myself. This is getting a bit irritating. I don't need it so I am going to give in to Dell and cancel my order.
I don't know if I will ever buy anything from Dell again that contains an OS on it.
What I want to know is why people on the other side of the ocean have received it but not anyone here?!

I initially agreed with this site's moderators about not posting links to the hacked version of the 2003 upgrade, and was just going to wait until I received my ordered CD from Dell, even if it took a few weeks more. Upside, is this would give apps developers more time to upgrade their apps.
But if Dell is not going to market the upgrade CD to me (and others) after I've done my part (ordered and waited), I think we should review the decision about sharing the info to upgrade among ourselves again. It would not be costing Dell sales on the CD if it isn't being sold anymore, would it? Just like code for any other abandon product.

Yeah JmE, that is pretty much the way I am leaning. Doing the upgrades is a pain. It always takes me a while to get the account re-recognized (not as a guest), and start syncing correctly. But I think the end result will be worth it. I'll let you know.

My guess is that they will eventually release it. If not, Dell would lose way to much in the long run as we will all (or at least most) have WM2003 on our Axims one way or another.
I do not think they would be stupid enough to NOT eventually ship the upgrade here. I mean, they have done some really stupid things, but this would be cutting off their nose to spite their face and I sincerely hope they are not that dumb!

Something one of my friend (nonAx kind) pointed out - why not take one of the new Axims and use the updater that Dell posted to save the ROM... then restore it to an A03 unit?
Would that even work?
