Mobile Maps for WM2003?
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm trying to get ANY interactive online Map / Direction finding program to work on my Axim X5 running WM2003 (not SE). I've done a review/search on this topic and haven't found the solution yet - maybe some AximSite user can help me? Haven't had any luck with Virtual Earth, Google Earth, Google Mobile Maps. I read here in the forums, that WM2003 may need some sort of Java applet download (which is quite large and memory consuming) that has to be installed in internal memory to get Google Mobile Maps or Google Earth to work. Which kind of defeats the purpose.... Now, Virtual Earth would install, but the maps are messed up, fragmented. Google Maps Mobile will not install at all (needs WM2003SE?) and just gives an error message with the limited-later versions I could find. Are there any Map / Direction programs compatable with WM2003 that could be used via WiFi while traveling??? ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You might also look at MS Pocket Streets. Altho, I don't think it works with WiFi. It does with GPS.

zumpen - Thanks, unfortunately Tracky requires GPS installed from what I see, something I don't have...
Kcallahan - Thank you, but doesn't Pocket streets require you to load all the maps on to your device? Both are good leads but, might there be any free alternatives similar to Virtual Earth or Google Maps??? Or... Might there be any of these programs meant specifically for WM2003? I know VEarth is supposed to work with WM2003, but I have no idea why the maps are fragmented once I scroll or try to zoom the initial map, or why the links don't work. Even happens after a reinstall... Would be interested in your impression(s) and suggestions! OrbitBoy

If you just want to see the Google maps in Tracky, no, you don't need any GPS-receiver. /zumpen

Mobile Maps for WM2003
I can tell you MS Streets and Trips is terrible on the Axim. Great on the desk top though. I run Google Virtual Earth on my x50V without any trouble. Where do you have it installed and what is your memory like? I have mine installed on the main memory. I know if you zoom in too close you loose the picture but I think that happens even on the desk top. Outside of that I get fairly clear pictures.
