Aximsitemobileicon Noob needs help installing software from XP users

First, I need to acknowledge the incredible value of this site, and the amazing generosity of its members. I have been lurking for weeks, sucking down the tutorials, reviews, FAQs, MyPDAs, and threads, and can only imagine how much frustration I would have experienced setting up a PDA without it. Thanks.

My info: Bought a lightly used X50v (2003SE) on eBay weeks ago, in hopes of organizing an increasingly complex life. I use Tbird and Lightning, and sync Lightning to Google iCalendar. My home desktop is Win XP Pro, and I use administrator account to manage the PC, but do all my work (email, contacts, surfing, data) on the limited/restricted user account I have set up (for safety). I installed ActiveSync 4.5 as administrator, and plan to install BirdieSync as administrator, both of which will/do show up as usable programs in the limited user account. BirdieSync requires AS 4.5. I want to do all my syncing between PC and PDA while logged in as limited user (that's where all my data are).

My question: When installing utilities and apps for the PDA (such as Sprite, CabInstl, Pocket Controller, Sound Explorer, MemMaid, Informant) do I need to be logged in as administrator? If yes, will these apps show up as usable programs when I'm later logged in as limited user, or do I need to rethink my strategy? I have searched the site but have been unable to find an answer.

Thanks in advance. Bob

The progs get logged into AS regardless of the user.

Additionally, most progs just have cab files in the programfiles\progname folder on the PC, which can just be copied to the PPC so they can be manually installed that way
