Hi there.

Has anyone attempted any programming?

Sure, and it is fun. Instead of using the expensive MS studio, try have a look at the PPL from ArianeSoft, you find it here: ArianeSoft - Development Tools for everyone: PPL
You can have the Lite version for free!

I'd wait until the price has dropped...and I mean really go down.

Amazon.co.uk: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (Professional Edition) (PC): Software: Microsoft

Rad ...

No need to guess ... when you install it read the EULA. (Yeah, I know - NO ONE does that). The date that it will quit functioning is in there. I think it was sometime in early March.

That is good enough for practice and editing some code.

I've done some programming, mostly scripting using Kixtart, and need to 'expand' my horizons into a more formal language.

I found a fairly simple source code for use as a sample prog to play with :-)

It's a professional software development tool, not a toy, that's why. VS Standard 2005 is < $300 which I regard as relatively cheap, really, considering the level of professional capability it has. Try becoming a dentist instead of a programmer then complain about the cost of your tools.

Just so you know, not everyone has that kind of money for software...may be in future I could purchase it. I'd like to use it, you see when I was at college they had the mobile template there. So that's why I would like to buy this, how long until it's £50?

You'd have to find it used to get it for 10%-20% of face value
