webpages cannot be accessed from links within e-mail messages

I recently bought a lovely Axim x50v and am generally very pleased aside from an issue with accessing webpages from URLs contained in e-mails. Clicking on such links results in the following error message: "There is no application associated with "http://whateverwebsite.html." Run the application first, then open this file from within the application." I've looked everywhere on this site and Google for a solution all to no avail thus far. Does anyone have a solution to this annoyance? It accesses URLs from Internet Explorer without any problems...

I d/ld PocketTweak and under its Registered File Types page it reports :

url extension - URL location
Application: iexplore.exe -u%1
html extension - HTML document
application: iexplore.exe file:%1

Any insights into resolving this most appreciated. I have tried a hard reset with no improvement. Thank you.
