ROM update Help Please
Hello I am new to the site and need some answers
#1 I have a Dell Axim x5 400 MHz PDA under the about screen it says that it is version microsoft pocket pc v 3.0 and processor is PXA250. is this bad, i keep hearing references to this being old... #2 I have ROM version A00, is this bad? How do I upgrade to liek A05 liek the rest of you people? #3 where to I find the ROM update...searched all over dell.com..moreover where do I get the 2003 version? As you might tell I am fairly new...will my current setup pxa250 and A00 run tomtom2 navi? | |||

Sounds like you've got one of those old Axim types. You might be able to get the ROM updates anywhere up to A03 (I guess) from support.dell.com (the service tag is under the main battery). Then you would actually have to purchase the upgrade to WindowsMobile2003(A05). As for the processor, you are only sacrificing a little bus speed (i guess) and its not worth buying a new PDA over. Finally, the programs...no idea what "tomtom2 navi" is, and i certainly don't know how to run it. Hope this helps!

it's fine
As stated above you need to upgrade to A03 - T%hen you'll be running the latest version af PPC2002. You shold be able to fine te upgradefiles at dell-support here: http://support.euro.dell.com/uk/en/f...id=PDA_AXIM_X5 This is the UK support the US didn't load for me (too slow I guess). The tomtom Navigator should run fine on the A03 version af PPC2002. Happy driving ;-) | |||
