Yo!! Great thread!! I couldn't connect this damn SMC flash card and SMC gave me the total run around. It's a long story. Anyhow, follow iPat's instructions. I connected once I checked "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks", and I just turned WEP off for now. So, it finally shows me as connected. But, when I go to PIE a box comes up saying "In order to connect to the internet you will need to configure a proxy"!! What the hell?? What's this all about?? I didn't think I was running a proxy. What do I need to do?? Thanx.
PD

Oh baby!! I'm on!! I just changed my settings from "work" to "the internet". Why is the work setting asking for a proxy? Finally, I'm on. BTW, if you attempt this do a backup. My machine locked up at one point and I had to do a hard reset to recover.

iPat's Instructions

As many others have had difficulties, so have I. I finally decided to try iPat's instructions regarding the WCF12 and the drivers from Senao. Everything was working all the way down the list. I tried inputting a WEP and it didn't take the one I had from my router, so I didn't include it. I tested the link and letters a) and b) both worked but then again, when I tried the last link, running Pocket IE, it didn't work. When set under "work", I would get a message that the webpage couldn't be displayed or found, and when i tried "the internet" it would give me an not correctly connected error.

At this point do I need to start from scratch? Backup my machine, hard reset and try again?

I'm trying to avoid this measure, but I'd love to have the ability to be able to be wireless?

Any thoughts?

I've been using the offical Linksys driver for WM 2003 since it came out about 2 months ago and have had smooth sailing ever since. The Linksys utility doesn't work properly in all aspects but the built in WIFI manager of the OS works fine. Often, when I have a "page not found" error, I go to the WIFI manager and find 2 wifi networks in range. Tap and hold to disconnect from one and tap and hold to connect to the other. Also manage your WEP in this manner, if needed. Also, if you connect, then disconnect (or the PDA goes into standby mode), a soft reset fixes that message.

Before this, I had many problems and errors. Sometimes I get the error when switching from a WiFi to cell phone connection. A hard reset is probably not going to fix the problem, I know I've tried several times. Good luck, this can be most frustration.
